The VW bus, saved?

This article made its way around the various forums over the last couple of days.  Seems as though the bus produced in Brazil might be given a waiver for the new safety regulations and thus keep production alive (if VW so chooses).  I found it interesting that other auto manufacturers apparently agree to the waiver idea because none of them produce a competitor to the bus.  Guess they know a perfect vehicle when they see one!
