Like a lot of VW enthusiasts, and some folks outside the VW community, I always enjoyed the advertisements VW produced during the 1960’s and `70’s. The library at the college I attended had an extensive Life magazine collection and I spent a fair amount of time perusing through them in search of old Volkswagen ads. I also picked up a few ads over the years at shows, not only single page advertisements but some of the booklets VW published as well.

Tomorrow is the big game in football – the Superbowl. The two top teams square off to determine which is the best of the best, the NFL’s top team, and earn enormous bragging rights and even more enormous salaries. The game receives much hype, which increases in intensity right until the first pass is thrown. This is a game so big, that it even attracts those with little interest in the sport. Oddly enough though, not all the pregame publicity concerns matters related to the field or athletes themselves.
